Men like women who wear less makeup – a myth shredded

Not wanting regular followers of PFPT to miss out, I thought I’d share with you a scathing piece I wrote for The Guardian.

About prettyfeetpoptoe

I live in London and have both my own legs so I am fortunate enough to get out and about on occasion. I form many views on the things that I see and do and love nothing better than a session of linguistic gymnastics in order to share these views.

  1. You have a way with words as well as a definite opinion about your subject! Fun reading. 😀

  2. Congratulations on having your article published in a major paper.
    Nice one.

  3. Okay, let’s forget Miss Kerr for a moment as she, like Jessica Alba, look great with/without makeup. On our normal person, I still have to say I like less more than better – TO A POINT. To say, “no makeup” is fine, but I have to admit that I enjoy a bit of foundation and some small amounts of makeup on ladies. It is the overboard or “how many layers DID you put on?” type of thing I can’t abide by. I don’t really care for a woman who literally “glows” in the light because the perspiration highlights her face. However, taken to the mat, I would rather no makeup than too much makeup. I think this is the very point you were making.

  4. I’m a woman who loves makeup. I also love acerbic wit that goes to the heart of such ‘reporting’ of ‘facts’, shows it for what it is, (dross) and gives me a great laugh at the same time. Thanks!

  5. Funny. Reality is hard to take. Don’t mess with the dream….
Still sometimes a little is a whole lot better than applying with a roller and a bucket – use the level appropriate for the event /situation to look nice and be comfortable with the way you look
Cheers for getting that article out there!
